Talent acquisition support
Surry County Economic Development Partnership is a networking opportunity for businesses seeking talent, as local business leaders share a vested interest in the success of the region’s commercial community.
We also partner with Surry-Yadkin Works a multifaceted work-based learning program that includes opportunities for pre-apprenticeships, apprenticeships, job shadowing, and business/education engagement.
Internships and worked-based experiences
Surry-Yadkin Works provides comprehensive career preparation programs for area youth, in partnership with local schools, Surry Commuity College, and the business community-at-large.
It starts with one-day and short term work experiences – job shadowing, tours, career fairs – that can be mutually beneficial to businesses and students. These are opportunities for students of all ages from elementary school through adult.
Apprenticeships
Growing in popularity, apprenticeships are practical and effective way to launch well-paying careers that open options for good jobs right out of high school and pre-college work experience. A high school graduate can start earning a salary while they learn trades or business skills. Apprenticeships can grow into lifetime careers and/or pay for continuing degreed education.
Pre-apprenticeships offer paid positions for high school students.
For businesses, apprenticeships and pre-apprenticeships provide serious and motivated employees, with an incentive to excel.
