Manufacturing Week celebrates our industry partners across Surry County each October.
Kicking off the week was a breakfast and presentation at the Pilot Center. A manufacturing and education facility in Pilot Mountain, owned by the Town and operated by Surry Community College. Presentations from SCC President Dr. David Shockley, SCEDP CEO Blake Moyer, and Surry-Yadkin Works Executive Director Crystal Folger-Hawks. Fifty-plus attendees heard about the impact manufacturing has on our community and what our education partners are doing to support it. Many attendees chose to join Allen Industries for a tour following the meeting.
Industry tours were offered to community partners and occurred at Altec Industries, Johnson Granite, Andrew Pearson Design, Harris Silver and Leatherworks, Tampco Inc., and Vitro Automotive.
Finally, a student career fair was held with 20 industry partners at Surry Community College with over 350 students in attendance!
Thank you to everyone involved with a successful Manufacturing Week! From our CDCs at ECS, SCS, and MACS, to Surry Community College staff, our manufacturing employers and staff tour guides, to Catrina and Leah with the EDP for coordinating it all. It was a team effort and we have the best one around!
