For Immediate Release – Project Vista Selects Mount Airy
Surry County Economic Development Partnership is proud to announce an existing industry expansion in the City of Mount Airy. North Carolina Foam Industries (NCFI Polyurethanes) will construct a new 140,000 square foot facility at Westwood Industrial Park. The company will invest more than $50,000,000 in the project and retain its 60 Mount Airy employees.
“Our decision to build this new facility in Mt. Airy is a testament to our commitment to the community where we began,” said Chip Holton, President of NCFI Polyurethanes. “We are excited to continue our growth journey in the very place where it all started. The support from state and local governments has been instrumental in making this project a reality, and we look forward to contributing even more to the local economy.”
Commissioner Van Tucker stated “on behalf of the Surry County Board of Commissioners, I want to thank North Carolina Foam Industries for making the decision to stay and expand their operation. We are excited that a legacy industry will continue to call Mount Airy home, and we look forward to their future here in Surry County.”

Founded and Headquartered in Mount Airy since 1964, NCFI Polyurethanes is a division of Barnhardt Manufacturing Company, a fourth-generation family business based in Charlotte, NC. The company manufactures technical spray foams with a diverse set of uses, including building insulation, geotechnical, and aerospace applications.
