The View from Surry: April 2026 Newsletter Highlights
Spring in Surry County has been defined by momentum, connection, and meaningful progress across our business community, education partners, and local industries. As we move through early 2026, April stands out as a month that reflects the energy and collaboration shaping our region’s future.
This month’s newsletter captures a wide range of milestones that continue to move Surry County forward. From the ribbon cutting at Westwood Industrial Park, marking another step in expanding site-ready infrastructure for future industry, to the opening of the Small Business Center at InterWorks, we are seeing direct investments in both long-term economic growth and everyday entrepreneurial support.
Workforce development also remained at the forefront. The Future-Ready Manufacturing Workshop brought together industry leaders and educators to explore innovation and talent pipelines, while the Job and Intern Fair connected students with real career opportunities across sectors. At the same time, Educator Exchange dinners in healthcare and manufacturing strengthened the bridge between classrooms and careers, ensuring our local talent is prepared for the demands of tomorrow.
Community and connection continued to thrive through events like Love Local, hosted by the Greater Mount Airy Chamber of Commerce, which highlighted the strength and creativity of our small business community. Meanwhile, the Foothills Young Professionals hosted both a membership gathering and a Lunch & Learn focused on leadership and career growth, reinforcing the importance of investing in emerging talent.
Beyond our region, Surry County’s voice was also represented at the NC Rural Summit in Raleigh, where insights on infrastructure and rural prosperity helped inform future strategies for continued growth.
In this edition of The View from Surry, we celebrate these moments not as isolated events, but as part of a larger story, one of collaboration, innovation, and steady momentum. Thank you for being part of a community that continues to elevate what’s possible in Surry County.
