At the Surry County Economic Development Partnership, we believe strong partnerships drive strong communities. That’s why our mid-year Investor Update is such an important moment each year. It gives us the opportunity to bring our investors together, share progress, and dive into the details of the work happening across Surry County.

This year’s gathering, hosted at PKP, was a meaningful time to reflect on the momentum we’re building and the opportunities ahead. We are grateful to everyone who joined us and continues to invest in the future of our county!

Why the Investor Update Matters

Our Investor Update serves as a midpoint check-in. A chance to move beyond headlines and into the strategy, partnerships, and initiatives shaping our region’s growth. It’s about transparency, collaboration, and ensuring our investors see firsthand how their support fuels real progress. From workforce initiatives to business recruitment and community branding, the work of economic development touches every part of our region. Events like this help us connect the dots and celebrate what we’re accomplishing together.

Progress, Projects, and Partnerships

This year’s update highlighted several major milestones:

  • The launch of our newly redesigned SCEDP website, built as a strategic tool to serve businesses, talent, investors, and partners

  • Continued advancement toward our Reach the Summit goals, including announced jobs and capital investment

  • Progress on site readiness efforts, including planning work to position Surry County competitively for future opportunities

  • We also shared updates on key projects, including expansions from companies like Nester Hosiery and Cardinal CT, which together represent continued confidence in our region’s workforce and business climate.

Investing in Talent and Entrepreneurship

Economic development isn’t just about buildings and infrastructure, it’s about people.

Through programs like Pitch It and Grow It, funded in part by the Duke Energy Foundation, we’re helping local entrepreneurs bring ideas to life and expand their businesses.

Our educator exchange initiatives are connecting teachers directly with employers, strengthening career awareness and workforce pipelines. Meanwhile, our talent attraction initiatives, including a new website, marketing efforts, and video storytelling, are helping us share Surry County’s story with a broader audience.

Building What’s Next

The message from this year’s Investor Update was clear: momentum is building. From strategic planning and marketing initiatives to infrastructure readiness and talent attraction, the work underway today is positioning Surry County for long-term success.

To our investors, partners, and community leaders, thank you for being part of this journey. Your support makes this work possible, and together we are building a stronger, more vibrant future for Surry County.
