On April 2nd, community leaders, partners, and stakeholders gathered to celebrate the official ribbon cutting of the newly completed development pad at Westwood Industrial Park in Mount Airy. This milestone represented more than the completion of a project, it signified a strategic investment in Surry County’s continued growth and readiness for opportunity.

The newly prepared 16-acre site-ready space was designed to meet the needs of modern industry. With grading, infrastructure, and utility access already in place, the site allows companies to move quickly from interest to construction, an increasingly critical factor in today’s competitive economic development landscape.

Funding from the Golden LEAF Foundation and the North Carolina Department of Commerce played a vital role in bringing this project to life, helping transform the site into a valuable asset for the region. Infrastructure improvements, including the extension of Boggs Drive and the installation of water and sewer lines, positioned the park to support future industrial users.
